Open Laboratory of Elsewhere

The value of education is to create an innovative, informed, democratic, robust, and varied society.

Open Laboratory of Elsewhere (OLE) is an independent collective pedagogical laboratory locates on temporary places in London and Turkey.

OLE started with an urgent need to rethink alternative education models for art students who come from lower financial groups and diverse communities.

Aims

To engage the existing capacity of knowledge between art students and academic users and turn itself into a collective learning centre, within yearly programs and variable durations.

A purpose is to be a space where for a group of four undergraduate-degree-level art students, and academicians who lecture at different fine art universities, to work, produce and learn together.

Principles

Exchange knowledge and experience.

An autonomous independently applicable pedagogical model.

Horizontal decision-making mechanism.

Operating based on models of the alternative economy: no budget, no sponsors, no grant applications, but collaboration.

Systematically growing community based on contribution.

Who Can Apply

Bachelor’s degree level art students and academicians who lecture at Fine Art Universities.
