Talk: Marina Abramovic and Hans Ulrich Obrist // Serpentine Sackler Gallery
We’ve visited Serpentine Sackler Gallery with our group during the Frieze Week 2017.
Thank you to Marina Abramovic and Hans Ulrich Obrist for the inspiring conversation at Serpentine.
Earlier in her talk with Obrist, Abramovic said “Nature is so perfect without us. We need art in the cities where human beings don't have any time, where human beings forget their own humanity. We have to take the experience of nature and transfer it into cities.”

CerModern
CerModern sits in a space that used to house train maintenance sheds and ateliers in the 1920s. With a renovation process that paid respect to the structure’s history, the connection to the old railway and the architecture of the early Republican era are still intact and can be felt in the gallery’s visual spirit.
CerModern’s previous exhibitions have included important names such as American photographer Steve McCurry, best known for his National Geographic portrait “Afghan Girl”; cross-dressing English artist Grayson Perry; light and text artist Robert Montgomery; filmmaker and photographer Nuri Bilge Ceylan; Mexican political printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada; and mathematically inspired Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher.
